THE TABO STORY 1932 The first TABO furnace was delivered to Malmö Östra crematorium in Sweden . The construction was based on German technology and was further developed to fit the Swedish requirements. The model was called VL after engineers Mr Volckmann and Mr Ludwig. 1946 Mr Tage Borgkvist took over as owner and Managing Director. The name TABO was created from his initials TA ge BO rgkvist. During the 1950s the company expanded rapidly. 1962 The first TABO installation outside the Nordic countries was completed. It comprised two G-VL-furnaces, which was installed in Groningen in Holland . This was the start of an expansion into the European market, and was the foundation for the worldwide reputation TABO has gained through the following years. 1970 TABO´s engineers developed a new furnace and still today the same shape is used. 1973 In spring 1973, the first foreign company, SA TABO NV was formed in Belgium . 1976 TABO buys the company OSMUND FABRIKS AB in Uppsala . The year after TABO merge with Swedish company Ugnsteknik and the new company is called UGNSBOLAGET TABO AB. 1979 The subsidiary company TABO SARL was formed in France . This company was later taken over by French investors and developed into TABO INEX, which later developed into Facultatieve Technologies. 1980 The first unit in Asia was installed in Taiwan , and the same year which was installed in San Diego , USA . The year after the first unit in Australia was installed in Sydney. 1983 In Australia the subsidiary, TABO AUSTRALIA PTY LTD was formed. This subsidiary is sold in 1985 to local investors and independent company TABO PARSON is formed. 1985 TABO bought the British company DOWSON & MASON LTD. Due to heavy losses this daughter company goes into liquidation in 1987. Evans Universal Ltd bought the bankruptcy estate. 1990 The first mercury filter was installed in Vänersborg , Sweden . This was a trial project and resulted in new knowledge about filters. 1997 A new owner take over the daughter company, Ugnsbolaget Tabo Incinerator AB, and the independent company TABO Incinerator AB is formed. 1999 The headquarter is moved to Stockholm . 2003 A new improved version of the TABO VL-A cremator was launched with immediate success. 2005 A new fully automatic insertion machine built in the floor is developed. More than 500 TABO furnaces have been installed in 30 countries, and new units are installed every year... |
